Item Description

A hard to find example of the beautiful Cuprian Adamites from the Mohawk Mine, just north of Interstate 15, and about 75 SW of Las Vegas, Nevada. Several beautiful blue-green colored, radial groups measuring up to about 3 mm across are scattered over contrasting reddish-brown Limonite matrix. We've photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. Specimens from this old lead copper producer are nearly impossible to obtain these days, and a piece like this would make a great addition to any California suite or a collection of worldwide Adamites. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6378). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecord.com/pdfs/Kay%20Robertson%20Collection.pdf ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017.
