Item Description
Alexandrite is the color changing variety of Chrysoberyl. The term "Alexandrite-type" color change is often used when a gem or mineral changes from a warmer hue i.e., pink to a cooler hue i.e., green or blue when exposed to different light sources i.e., indoor lighting and sunlight. This piece comes from the classic Carnaíba district in Bahia, Brazil featuring an aesthetic twinned crystal, free of matrix. The crystals are a bit dark, but with some backlighting, you can see some attractive internal gemminess. The piece does show a good color change from a rich purplish-red in indoor lighting, to a green hue in sunlight. Very good quality all around, and a worthwhile specimen of these well known twins.
