VERY RARE, gem, synthetic amethyst crystal from Russia. The unusually tabular, very glassy and lustrous water-clear crystal has dark purple color under normal light AND stunning beautiful rich violet color, when backlit! The wavy prism faces nicely accent the piece. The complex termination holds the metal pins that held the natural quartz seed plate used to start the crystal and connect it to electrodes. Nearly pristine, with only trivial edgewear. Ex Cook Collection, from a large suite they assembled over decades showcasing development of synthetic crystal growth. Certainly a wondrous and rare large synthetic, lab-made gem amethyst quartz crystal. Mass is 300 grams.
