Amethyst with Pyrite, Chalcopyrite and Sphalerite

This is a wonderfully show and three-dimensional display specimen from this famous locality featuring excellent, stout, translucent, soft purple ("Amethystine") colored hexagonal prismatic crystals of Amethyst measuring up to 6.2 cm aesthetically sitting atop a matrix comprising crystals of soft golden colored metallic Pyrite, along with brassy Chalcopyrite crystals and jet-black Sphalerite. The Amethyst crystals have a slight bulge near the central portion of the prisms, which is a characteristic of the material. They are all in fine condition, and I love how the Amethysts are flaring out of the matrix in several directions. You really don't see pieces like this from the Turt Mine as the Amethyst crystals from this locality are usually smaller and non-descript, but the pocket that produced these particular specimens is certainly the most well-known and desirable. I would say this piece is about as good as we've had to offer from the mine for the material, and it's highly displayable to boot. Keep in mind that this locality is finished, and will never produce these pieces again. Priced at $4,000 in our inventory.
