Item Description

Two tiny, sharp, water-clear, trapezohedral analcime crystals, to 1 mm, are dramatically perched atop a striking, sculptural, 360-degree stacked cluster of nailhead calcite rhombs on this RARE old combination from the historic mines at St Andreasberg. Faint pink fluorescence. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 1486 and acquired from Lindemann at Christmas, 1959. Kay assembled a nice suite of classics and rarities from this famed district. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). The last mine closed in 1910. RARE combination material from the famed locale. See Page 330 of the Mineralogical Record St. Andreasberg Special Issue, May-June, 2017, Vol. 48, No. 3. The issue does not mention analcime in combination with calcite. Perhaps unique?
