Item Description

This is a STUNNING, complete all-around and water-clear, slightly smoky quartz crystal that is festooned with lustrous anatase crystals to 9 mm. It is from the classic locale of from Hyrdangervidda, Norway. The anatase crystals are embedded both on and within the quartz, uncommon for the locality, smoky. This is a SUPERB and AESHTETIC anatase and smoky quartz specimen. It is certainly one of the best, and almost certainly, one of the very few pristine anatase on smoky quartz, that we have offered at auction from the lot we obtained from Dr. Gary Hansen 3 years ago in purchase of his collection (he was a dealer and collector from the 1960s to early 80s). Dr. Hansen obtained this piece in a small lot trade with the Smithsonian, who in turn traded with the Geology Museum at the University of Oslo. This was a pretty expensive piece in the late 1970s or early 1980s. Current value is surely $1800-2000. RARELY available in this quality on today's market.
