Fine quality neon blue Apatite really only comes from two places in the world. The Bahia area of Brazil produces a very intense deep blue color of Apatite, but stones are often very small. The Madagascar material is most popular in the gem world, as its intense blue color truly looks like no other gem. I think you could compare the color to a saturated Paraiba blue Tourmaline, but these Apatites are unique as they really don't have a color like anything else. Recently these gems have made a comeback in the gem world as I've seen it on some of the home shopping jewelry channels lately. This particular stone exhibits a wonderful saturated ocean blue color with a slight green overtone and an "elongated oval brilliant" cut. The clarity is certainly gem quality, and there is a gentle internal haziness, almost like the ocean itself. A beautiful and large sized stone of this material. You rarely seen faceted Apatite gems over 5 carats from any locality, let alone Madagascar. Priced at $915.25 high retail.
