Item Description

Super provenance on this RARE, outstanding, rich old-time small cabinet combination from historic Copper Country. RARE, gem-like, sharp, tabular apophyllite crystals with nifty beveled edges cover the front of the sculptural crust. The back hosts a fine SURPRISE and common accessory - numerous classic copper-included calcite crystals. The striking gemmy, richly included, doubly terminated calcite on the edge is 2.0 cm. Previously in the collection of George Kunz (1856-1932), gem expert and Vice President at Tiffany & Company and prolific mineralogy and gemstone author. He sold the piece, according to the previous dealer label, to the New York State Museum in 1886. The numbers match. Value of such a remarkable and rare old-time Copper Country combination with an outstanding provenance??
