Item Description

This locality is named for its beautiful Aquamarine crystals, but very little was ever available on the market until the last few years when a handful of people elected to use large track-hoes instead of smaller hand tools and jack-hammers. We've only had a few Aquas to offer in the auctions over the years, but this one really stands out as it features a sharp, lustrous, gemmy prism of Aquamarine with a rich blue color that is covered by small white partially etched Topaz crystals measuring up to 3 mm. In my experience, it's quite rare to find Topaz crystals ON Aquamarine like this. I've seen specimens from Pakistan which feature Aquamarine and Topaz on the same matrix, but I can only remember a few instances where I've seen Topaz crystals actually sitting on an Aquamarine crystal. If you collect gem crystals, thumbnails or minerals of California, do NOT miss out on this attractive an unusual association specimen from this pegmatite locality in San Bernardino County (the single largest county in the United States - roughly the size of West Virginia).
