Item Description

These are some of the most well-known Aragonite specimens on the market. They don't get enough attention due to their abundance on the market, but they are still very good quality and attractive. This small cabinet specimen is a fine three-dimensional group featuring dozens of gemmy to translucent, reddish-brown Aragonite crystals free of matrix. The piece is essentially crystallized all the way around, though it's not a complete "floater" as there are a few small points of attachment that can be seen. The largest crystal measures 1.4 cm long. It should be noted that all of the crystals on this specimen are actually prismatic cyclic twins. From the worldwide collection of Tom Campbell. Tom is a mineralogist and mineral collect who works with us here at The Arkenstone. He has over 35 years of experience in the fields of exploration geology, mining, and applied mineralogy, and has even more years under his belt as a collector! Tom has described many new species over the years, and discovered the rare phosphates Tiptopite, Fransoletite and Pahasapaite. Tom was also a co-author on the second edition of the Encyclopedia of Minerals. You can see a list of Tom's published works here ( https://www.irocks.com/thomas-j-campbell-publications-list ).
