Item Description

Lustrous, metallic arsenopyrite prisms are richly scattered on the sculptural large mounded 3-dimensional 360-degree specimen with sphalerite and quartz from this less well-known Chihuahua mine. Some of the prisms, to 3.3 cm, have striking sharp curved edges, adding much character. There is also some rare iridescent golden chalcopyrite on the bottom of the piece. The Tajo Mine is known to have produced exceptional specimens, such as this, but they are rare and are seldom on the market. A very fine older combination specimen from the 1960s and 70s finds from the University of Arizona Collection # 5099 (on back). Valued by the former dealer at $1950 for richness, quality and rarity in this quality from old Mexican finds.
