Item Description

Axinite Group specimens are very rare from this less well-known California county. Classic, glassy, transparent to translucent, yellowish-brown typically tapered blades, to 1.7 cm, are attractively set jackstraw-style atop the solid axinite matrix. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 9404 and acquired from Harvey Gordon at the 1981 MSSC Show. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Rare older material probably from the 1950s-1960s.
