Item Description

Dozens of super lustrous Azurite crystals densely cover the interior of a shallow, elongate depression in matrix on this large and attractive piece from Tsumeb. The deep royal blue, bladed Azurite crystals are from 3 mm to 3 cm in length with all of them displaying tremendous luster. The crystals exhibit fine striations and many show numerous crystals in parallel growth with most of them in random orientation. With strong backlighting, the edges of the Azurite crystals glow with rich blue translucency! There is some minor damage to the crystals at the interior and the periphery otherwise they are in excellent condition. This is literally a huge, flashing plate of metallic blue azurite from the best azurite locality of historic mineral collecting....in a huge size, and with great visual impact. Such pieces are usually valued in the five figures and $10,000 seems a fair guideline value here.
