What an impactful Tsumeb Azurite! This super lustrous, dramatic, near parallel group of large, sharp, deep Azure blue crystals is fairly unique among Tsumeb Azurites! There are at least a dozen stunning, striated, glossy, midnight blue Azurites from 2 to 7 cm in length and averaging 1.5 cm in width that comprise this remarkable piece. This substantial, glistening group is four and a half inches long with superb luster and the crystal edges and terminations are sharp on the majority of crystals. There is a moderate amount of greenish white porous clay that comprises the matrix and some of the Azurite crystals on the backside and bottom are implanted in it. Pieces with this kind of luster were always very rare and this is one of those fine old styles that is hard to match. It is most likely from the 1960s but it could be even older. The robust crystal size combined with the luster and midnight blue color is just amazing!
