Azurite

Item Description

Super lustrous, stubby prismatic crystals of deep blue Azurite constitute this elongated cluster from the classic Tsumeb Mine in Namibia. There are a dozen, well-formed, midnight blue crystals here that range in size from 0.5 to 1.5 cm in length. The Azurites are subtly striated, even on the flat terminations. These lovely Azurite crystals contrast well with the off-white matrix (Calcite?). The main crystals are in excellent condition with only one small crystal in the front and back that have been compromised, but still exhibit lustrous blue faces. Formerly in the Olaf Medenbach collection then Erika Pohl-Stroher. A very rare style of robust textbook azurite crystallization. Valued $1000-plus.
