Item Description

A beautiful display piece of these now classic Barites from Peru. This piece was mined in 2004. There are many sharp, very lustrous, fairly thick tabular blades which range in color from a soft blue-grey to a light golden hue sitting on a somewhat brecciated matrix. The beveled edges which surround the broad 'c' face of the crystals make for almost 'picture frame' like windows on these glistening Barites which measure up to 2.7 cm. For the most part, the piece is in great shape, but there are contacts around the periphery where it was removed from the pocket wall. I love the balance and three-dimensional appeal of the specimen as it displays wonderfully without the aid of a base or clay. These pieces are now hard to find on the market, and certainly worth picking up if you collect Barites, Peruvian minerals or cabinet display pieces.
