Item Description

An attractive specimen featuring gemmy and lustrous, golden tabular Barite from the famous Meikle Mine. If you look closely, you'll see a secondary overgrowth of dozens of tiny sparkling silvery colored Barites on top of the original deposition of the golden crystals. The largest crystal measures 2.7 cm across. Good quality, classic material and hard to photograph, and I would say better in person. Priced at $950 in the inventory. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
