Item Description

This is a superb, small cabinet-sized cluster of the famous bladed and glassy Barytes from the well-known discovery at the Meikle Mine in Nevada in the late 1990s. The luster and gemminess of these crystals is amazing, but it made it so very difficult to shoot just because the crystals are so transparent. The largest crystal is 2.6 cm on edge, and the little bit of zoning and inclusions add character to the tabular crystals. There is some breakage on one of the crystal corners, but it does not significantly affect the fine aesthetics. Much better in person. This was recently deaccessed from the extensive collection of Bob Reynolds, who cherished both minerals and fossils as he collected. Bob is a prolific author and has had several curating positions in museums.
