Item Description

A sharp, very impressive, large for the locale, two-sided barite crystal from this well-known Colorado locale. The grayish-green, translucent to uncommonly transparent at the tip, tabular crystal has pleasing high satin lustre. The side car 'wings' on both sides add pizzazz. The striking primary top edges and one end are pristine. The broken tip at the other end and bruised side car crystals have minimal impact to the overall very high quality of this outstanding larger Hartsel barite. This was the premier Colorado barite locality, until the finds of blue barite at Stoneham (Sterling) in Weld County in the mid to late 1980s. Valued at $850-1000.
