Item Description

Classic Baryte and Cinnabar combination from the the Clarashell Mine in Germany. The two tabular crystals, in parallel growth, have the red tint from Cinnabar that is so indicative of this location. The largest Baryte is completely gemmy, while the slightly smaller crystal is gemmy to translucent. These euhedral crystals have sharp, beveled edges, and the largest crystal has attractive and glassy growth features. This Baryte mine closed in the early 1970s. Excellent material, this was #5461 in Kay's collection. Superb and dramatic!
