Item Description

An old time Aquamarine from an unknown locality (possibly the Strickland Quarry) in Middlesex County, Connecticut. Some of these crystals dates back to the 1840's and are among the more noteworthy Beryls from New England. This piece is a soft blue-green color Aquamarine crystal with sharp prism faces, good form and slight translucency when backlit. Some minor Muscovite is attached to the back of the crystal. Both ends of the crystal are contacted, but one end appears to be partially re-crystallized ("re-healed"). A cool old specimen for any collector of pegmatite minerals, gem crystals or minerals from New England. You just don't see these on the market in any capacity, so don't miss out on owning one of these antique and highly desirable Beryls from this famous pegmatite region in the United States From the collection of Allen Heyl, a geologist from Colorado, and the namesake for the phosphate Aheylite. Specimen weight is 84.18 grams.
