Item Description

Lustrous, sharp, intergrown, bi-colored fluorite cubes cover this sculptural and showy small cabinet from this historic mining district in the Czech portion of the famed Erzgebirge. The well-placed cubes, to 2.0 cm, are opaque deep purple on the exteriors. Gemmy golden-amber interiors are exposed on the periphery. The District is well-known for a wide variety of fluorite colors and this is an excellent and uncommon example of this bi-colored varietal. The dark purple fluorite does not fluoresce, while the amber fluorite fluoresces purple. Probably older material, but no proof. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 1992.
