Bi-colored Fluorite on Quartz

Item Description

Five sharp bi-colored fluorite octahedrons are aesthetically set on the sculptural pair of opposing large sparkly, sugary, snow-white quartz crystals. The impressive large octahedron with quartz showing through four faces is 5.0 x 4.8 x 4.0 cm. The crystal is doubly terminated on the other axis and is 6.0 cm long. It is nearly pristine, with only a small corner bruise. The four large lustrous, translucent, deep purple to blue-green octahedrons have frosted faces with STRONG (!!) BACKLIGHTING revealing fantastic broad PINK interiors! It does need a strong light, but it is worth it. The fluorites fluoresce moderate dark purple. Interesting in themselves, the quartz crystals have three generations of growth. The interiors are glassy, translucent gray quartz followed by the striking snow-white overgrowth. Small frosted quartz points preferentially deposited on the sides are a nice third generation complement. The impressive large terminated quartz is complete all-around and essentially pristine. The 4.3 cm doubly terminated quartz below the fluorites is a fine accessory. The opposing quartz has broken ends and the periphery wear at the base of the bottom octahedron is noted. Otherworldly, RARE and dramatic large quartz with fluorite combination from a recent find at this obscure skarn-type Pb-Zn mine, where mining started in 2008 (MINDAT). This is from a large recent find, and there were many of them, but this piece seemed particularly dramatic in style. Specimens like this have been on the web, and selling in a wide range of prices lately, but should be in the $2000-ish range.
