Item Description

Outstanding combination of sulfides, accompanied by Quartz, from the Victoria Mine in Nevada, The dark, metallic Bismuthinite is wonderfully accented by the lustrous, golden Pyrite and the equally lustrous and iridescent Chalcopyrite. But the real star of the show is the striated, 8 mm Bismuthinite crystal that spans the pocket of this small cabinet specimen. Quality, well-formed Bismuthinites like this are simply not often seen, especially as a stout, dramatically isolated crystal like this. This is an excellent specimen for the species and the locality. This was recently deaccessed from the extensive collection of Bob Reynolds, who cherished both minerals and fossils as he collected. Bob is a prolific author and has had several curating positions in museums.
