A striking, 3.5 x 2.3 cm tabular Brookite "sail" is beautifully and aesthetically set among gemmy quartz crystals on the quartz and feldspar matrix. The brilliant lustre parallel-growth, striated crystal has hues of browns to reds under bright light. The back side of the Brookite is covered with gemmy quartz crystals, adding even more allure. Back lighting reveals edges with gorgeous cherry-red translucence, typical of many specimens of the finds. The early 2000s finds of Brookite specimens from the Kharan District of Pakistan are easily some of the finest "Alpine-type" Brookites in the world. Reminiscent of the finest TRUE ALPINE Brookite specimens from the Alps, these crystals are just as sharp, lustrous, gemmy and colorful. If these specimens from Pakistan were found in the Italy or Switzerland, they would be worth thousands! of dollars apiece to knowledgeable collectors (if you could even get a European collector to part with one). That's how good they are. Ex Cook Collection. We feel very lucky to have picked up the large collection of Bill and Anne Cook of Cleveland, recently. It is a tribute to their long efforts, how many interesting minerals and old localities were preserved and carefully labelled so you can see them now. Bill and Anne collected for at least 60 years. A very fine and aesthetic 360-degree combination from the locale.
