Item Description

Cafarsite is one of the rarest of Swiss classics, and a beautiful display miiature like this is uncommon on the market today. This is a very rare, hydrated arsenite, and this fine, multi-crystal cluster is from the TYPE LOCALITY of the Wanni glacier in the Binn Valley of Switzerland. The dark, sub-metallic, grey-brown crystals are well formed, modified cuboctahedrons. The good luster and brown color help give these crystals, particularly the largest, 1.2 cm crystal, the look of polished leather. Cafarsite was not recognized until 1966. Rich specimens such as this are hard to find, and seldom available. Valued $1000-plus
