Item Description
An aesthetic and classic golden amber Tri-State Calcite specimen probably recovered during mining operations in the district in the mid-1900s. This translucent and lustrous scalenohedron has a gorgeous, golden-amber color and striking, slightly stepped-growth faces just to give it a little texture. In contrast, the edges and termination are smooth. The top half of the crystal is translucent to nearly transparent, as are the edges mostly. The bottom half of the crystal is more turbid almost an off-white in a couple of large patches. There is one, small, 2.5 cm sidecar Calcite crystal on one side at the base. Cleaved cleanly at the base where it was removed from the matrix. No damage and a perfect termination to this old-timer!
