Gemmy and lustrous, interpenetrant, golden-amber calcite crystals aesthetically set on a bit of matrix. This beautiful piece is complete all-around and has excellent amber color. A couple of the faces are preferentially frosted, adding character. The scattered trivial edgewear is out of sight on the preferred display view. These super calcites from the Sokolovskiy Mine of Kazakhstan caused a major stir at all the shows, when they came out in the early 1990s. Not too many were this well-balanced on matrix. Highly representative of the species and famous find.
