Item Description

A superb, three-dimensional display specimen of the now hard to find Calcites from the Fuzichong Mine. These specimens started coming out in the early 2000s, but dried up after a few years, and are virtually impossible to find on the market now. This particular piece features many excellent quality, sharp, lustrous, translucent, thick, doubly-terminated, white and "smoky" colored tabular hexagonal crystals measuring up to 5.6 cm across aesthetically arranged on the underlying matrix. I can only see one real point of damage, a few small spots that might appear to be broken are actually incomplete / interrupted growth. I love the distinctive bi-colored appearance of the crystals with their silky interiors that are "capped" off by the thin white layers on terminations. You just don't see pieces of this size with such great aesthetics on the market anymore, and if you're a fan of Calcites or cabinet sized Chinese display specimens, don't miss out on this one. We just picked this specimen in a recently acquired prominent Midwest collection. Originally valued in the collection at $3,000 and well worth it for scope, quality and arrangement of the crystals.
