Item Description

This long storied historic U.S. locality has produced some of the world's finest Calcite and Fluorite specimens extant. Despite the fact that there are only a handful of minerals found at the Elmwood mine, some of them are among the most recognizable minerals in the world. This wonderful cabinet piece consistis of a large, very sharp, highly lustrous, rather gemmy, beautiful golden orange scalenohedral group of Calcite with minor purple Fluorite crystallized white Barite on the base. I love the "stepped" effect of the terminations, like a mountain range. This piece is in very good shape overall for the size, though there are a few tiny imperfections on a handful of the terminations, and it's obviously not complete on the base / back where it was removed from the pocke wall. These pieces are well known classics from the U.S. and this one really has it all from the standpoint of quality, size and displayability. Valued at $1,750 retail.
