Calcite on Duftite with Quartz

A highly unusual Tsumeb piece with a unique sparkling luster to it: Dozens of small white Calcite rhombs are set on a solid, flowing surface of green Duftite from the Tsumeb Mine in Namibia. This is a classic assemblage for the locality, however, this one is absolutely excellent! The Duftite surface is a scintillating olive green suggesting thousands of tiny Duftite crystals cover the entire rounded hillock surface. This may be the richest and most attractive Duftite piece we've encountered from Tsumeb. The large cabinet piece is sprinkled with 3 mm, nearly snow-white, translucent Calcite rhombs for great aesthetics. There is even a wide V of two, translucent white Quartz crystals (actually two tightly divergent groups) prominently displayed on the right side of the piece. One segment of the spray measures 3.5 cm, the other 1.5 cm. The crystals are well terminated and have good luster. A super attractive display piece of Duftite, Calcite and Quartz from Tsumeb! Unique in our experience, especially in display size. We obtained this from Marshall Sussman in Chicago in the early 2000s and sold it to Star van Scriver, who sold it on to Dr. Pohl at that time.
