Calcite on Siderite

Item Description

A sizeable bouquet of 7 pearlescent rich ivory colored Calcite rosettes with Siderite on matrix. It really reminds you of flowers or growths, to look at it! The highly lustrous translucent flat rhombs with slightly curved blades resemble the layered flower petals of a rose. The largest rosette in the top center is a huge bloom of 6.5 x 6.4 cm. There is also an earlier phase of honey color Calcite rhombs present on the front left and underneath a few of the Calcite rosettes. The combination of the 2 phases of Calcite with the associated golden crystalline Siderite makes for a choice collection level piece. The piece is in excellent condition with only some edge wear and a small rub on the back of one of the small rosettes. These incredible Calcite rosettes from Romania are extremely difficult to find on the market and even at the time this came out in the heyday of Romanian specimens (late 1990s and early 2000s) it would have been highly valued.
