Item Description

Please note: This specimen was labeled as coming simply from "Yuma County, Arizona". We suspect it could possibly be from the Hull Mine, but it's not certain, so if anybody out there has information as to where this piece is from specifically, please let us know. This piece is filled with attractive, notably flat, bladed / tabular crystals of grey-white colored Calcite measuring up to 3.7 cm across and free of matrix. The crystals are incredibly thin, and qualify as what some would call "paper spar", because of their highly compressed habit. No major damage, just a little bit of roughness here and there. A very worthwhile example of this uncommon habit of Calcite from Arizona. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2978). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecord.com/pdfs/Kay%20Robertson%20Collection.pdf ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017.
