Item Description

VERY RARE and highly unusual fluorescent and phosphorescent calcite from a most obscure extinct quarry near Washington Court House, county seat, of Fayette County, Ohio. The massive bi-colored pink to creamy to light brown translucent calcite rests on fine-grained sandstone matrix. This is considered to be Terlingua-type calcite deposit. Pink areas of the calcite have variable pink fluorescence under SW and LW UV light. These areas are phosphorescent under SW UV light. See: https://www.mindat.org/photo-994176.html for more details. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 1993.
