Item Description

Four generations of fantastically different calcite habits are dramatically set on this surreal and most sculptural looking large specimen from the famous Ag-polymetallic San Martin Mine of Zacatecas. First generation calcite and sulfides compose the underlying layered matrix. A striking sharp second generation 5.3 cm glassy, translucent, gray scalenohedron dominates the piece. Multiple clusters of small tan stacked pokerchip calcites follow. Stunning sharp, stout, very glassy, transparent to translucent, hexagonal fourth generation calcite crystals dramatically flank the large dogtooth crystal. The amazing pristine segmented cluster to the left of the dogtooth is 3.0 x 2.9 x 2.8 cm. Faint pink calcite fluorescence. A unique large 4-generation calcite from the well-known locale. Valued by the former dealer at $750.
