Item Description

Attractive and uncommon, this old-time specimen of botyroidal Cobaltoan Calcite is from a long-closed Spanish locality - the Solita Mine in Catalonia. The deep and rich magenta color is accentuated by the luster, which together help create an attractive small cabinet specimen. Along the edges, you can see how translucent this Calcite can be. The piece is even more attractive when you take into account the rarity from this classic locality, and how seldom these become available. Old Larry Conklin label looks like it is from the 1970s or 1980s From the collection of East Coast collector, George Elling, specializing in historic minerals of the East Coast and minerals from the development of old European mineralogy.
