Item Description

These are some of the most iconic and eye-catching Calcite specimens from any world locality. China has produced a wealth of impressive Calcites over the years, but the specimens from the Xikuangshan deposit are singular in their form and association with Stibnite. This piece dates back at least 20 years (mined in the 1990s) and is a fantastic example of these wonderful specimens. A large 6.9 cm, compressed / tabular soft golden color crystal of Calcite with sharp faces and good internal gemminess highlights the piece as it stands proudly atop the matrix which is sprinkled with thin prisms of silvery Stibnite to create a very pleasing effect. A smaller accenting Calcite can be seen on the back for a nice touch. The piece has a few minor rough spots, but overall, it's in great condition and is so showy compared to many from this locality which were somewhat "clunky" and not very displayable. A must have for any Calcite collector or a fan of Chinese minerals, as these specimens are no longer being found and are quite limited on the market. Priced in the inventory at $950.
