Item Description

Cavansite is one of these minerals that is really only associated with a single locality, though it's found in other places in the world. It beloved by collectors and dealers due to the fact that it has one of the most distinctive colors in the mineral world. There might be a fair number of them on the market now, but most are not as nice as this piece, and you won't see them forever. Rumors keep swirling as to whether Wagholi is completely flooded and unminable, or if the quarry is being filled in to make room for the ever growing housing market in Pune, so eventually there will be no more Cavansite on the market. This piece hosts a gorgeous 2.2 cm radial "spray" of glowing intense blue Cavansite sitting atop gemmy, bladed, beige colored Heulandite sitting on basalt matrix. No real damage that I can see, and the piece has been sawed so it sits perfectly on its own without the aid of a base or clay. Valued at $1,250 in the inventory.
