Item Description

Michigan has produced celestine for 100 years, of a wide variety of forms and shapes and colors and sizes (celestite on former labels). However, these 3-dimensional, textbook and robust crystals came out only about 15 years ago, around 2008-2011 (give or take, from memory). They are really unique in style and aesthetic compared to all other finds, and stunned the mineral world at the time for the sharpness and aesthetics, such as you see here. This spectacular display piece features numerous crystals to 6 cm, including a doubly-terminated crystal on the right side. We are familiar with the material well, and have seen very few of this magnitude. On the open marketplace, even when they came out, such pieces were priced at $10,000 and up, and this should be valued at least that. This was donated by collector and board member,  Conan Barker for the auction.
