Celestine with Strontianite (rare)

WOW. What an unusual Ohio specimen! I grew up in Ohio and never saw anything like this in the 1980s, in the collections I was familiar with of noted field collectors there. This is a really unusual specimen with balls of snow-white strontianite, the cluster being 5 cm tall , jsut perched hanging upon celestite crystals. It is actually complete all around. It is striking in contrasts. The strontiantie continues on the backside, but the back ball is hollow, a cast, with tiny sparkling crystals of calcite within. A dramatic and sculptural specimen from a rare Ohio locality. Formerly in the Lee Burnett Collection and Keith Williams personal collection (Keith is a retired dealer, known for his taste in aesthetic miniatures, USA classics, and Colorado material. He was one of the first to bring out Bulgarian material in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and a dealer for perhaps 50 years. )
