From the great locality of Tsumeb is this singular, very fascinating Cerussite specimen! We have seen hundreds and probably thousands of Cerussite specimens, but some styles and shapes, like this piece, just stand out as truly rare, even for this location which arguably produced world's best of species crystals. This big, nearly fist-sized piece is host to a large, gorgeous, very geometric tightly intergrown aggregate of a reticulated twin that measures 5.5 cm tall and 6.5 cm at its widest dimension. The color is a pleasing smoky tan and exhibits a silky luster on its sides as a result of striations and twinning, and then an adamantine luster on top where the superb geometric reticulated twinning is pronounced. It is mesmerizing to look at the top of this alluring piece with its intricate criss-cross twinning everywhere and at the just the perfect angles! This is an exceptional example of the material in size and aesthetic display. It has two tiny imperfections on the top edge and contacting on the bottom and on one side that do not take away from the beauty of this piece at all. This handsome piece is probably from the 1960s or 1970s. Valued $4000-6000.
