Item Description

The Planet Mine in Arizona is known for these amazing, neon blue crystals of copper sulfate, chalcanthite. Worldwide, it does form in several old copper mines, but seldom as crystals, and the best come from here. It is a secondary mineral that seems to form from copper-rich water runoff in the right conditions, in abandoned old human mines (i.e. post-mining). But, this is natural and collected underground in the old mine, and it is a fine crystal of a generally rare species in this quality. This is a single lustrous striated gemmy transparent single that is unusually well-terminated. Valued ???. Normally, these are simply inexpensive and dismissable curiosities, but THIS is something special and we have no comparables.
