A crust of beautiful turquoise-blue bubby chalcoalumite botryoids covers the sculptural miniature matrix on this classic and excellent specimen from the extinct Grand View Mine. This Cu-U mine was only active from 1893-1907. A few specimens were collected in the early 1970s and the mine lies within the current boundary of the Grand Canyon National Park and is off limits for over 20 years, to collectors. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 6824 and acquired as a gift from Wayne Leicht in the early 1970s, soon after it was collected. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). A classic and colorful example from this famous Arizona mine.
