An old-time, and superb, combination piece from the Groundhog Mine at Vanadium, New Mexico. Beautiful, sharp, iridescent and golden Chalcopyrites to 1.4 cm are clustered on a sparkly forest of water-clear Quartz crystals. The twinning and striations on the Chalcopyrites are outstanding, and the richness of the piece is really mind-blowing. When I first saw this, I thought it was a terrific example of the classic Peruvian combos, but I was very pleasantly mistaken. These great pieces date to the 1950's. Formerly in the extensive collection of W & A Cook.
