The historic extinct polymetallic-U-fluorite mines of the Frohnau area of the renowned Erzgebirge are famous for rich yellow and deep purple fluorite specimens. The mines have also produced a limited number of beautiful "rainbow fluorite" specimens, of which this is a fine and very colorful example. The rich golden-yellow cores of the intergrown cubes are enclosed by sharp, narrow bands of reddish-brown fluorite. Bright grass-green, gemmy fluorite completes the rainbow of colors. The aesthetically intergrown glassy modified cubes with satin lustre faces have striking broad dense stepped-growth edges, which really adds pizzazz to this older desirable very colorful classic. Purple fluorescence. These were never common. The crystals GLOW, when back lit.
