Columbite is EXTREMELY RARE from this most obscure area of Amazonas State, in extreme northwestern Brazil. MINDAT does not list Columbite, nor the specific locale in Sao Gabriel da Cachoeira, yet this collection was known for its rare and strange survey of Brazilian minerals. Furrowed, knobby, lustrous, sub-metallic Columbite covers both sides of this large solid and hefty Niobium ore specimen. The specimen probably contains traces of rare Wodginite and Quartz, as accessories. Ex Paolo Matioli Collection. Mass is 860 grams or 1.9 pounds of niobium-rich ore!
