Item Description

A classic specimen of the famous Copper from the Cashin Mine in southwestern Colorado. This locality dates back to the late 1890s, and produced nearly two million pounds of Copper during its lifetime, though specimens are fairly obscure on the market. The specimens are rarely crystallized (mostly crystalline) and this piece is a good example of said material featuring predominantly Copper, but it is likely mixed with a bit of Silver, as is often the case with this material. Also, it's quite possible that there is a bit of Domeykite on the surface as well, but it's difficult to know for certain without having the piece analyzed. Pinkish-tan colored Kaolinite can be seen all over the front / display side of the piece as well. The piece has a fine antique patina and good form. It's not just a "lump" like several I've seen from the locality. A great piece for a native element collector, a Colorado collector or somebody who likes minerals from the United States. From the collection of Lee B. Burnett of Morrison, Colorado (#LB192)
