Item Description

A classic and eye-catching specimen of the famous pseudomorphs of Copper after Aragonite from Corocoro. This piece has the classic and unique "disco ball"-esque form that has made these pieces some of the most well known and highly sought after pseudomorphs around. This is the only place in the world where Copper pseudomorphs after Aragonite to the best of my knowledge. Due to the oxidation of the exterior, the piece has a light coating of Malachite and reddish Cuprite on virtually every side of the piece. There has not been any significant amount of these specimens on the market in many years, and they are often only found in old collections. Valued at $500 retail. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12855). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
