Cornetite with Malachite

Item Description

Cornetite is a rare copper phosphate and this famous, artisanally mined copper prospect produces the world's best for the species and it is also the type locality. Sparkly, spherical aggregates of beautiful, two-toned teal-blue Cornetite richly cover the undulating face of this dramatic piece. The Cornetite occurs as tiny, radiating crystals that form the vibrant blue to teal blue, botryoidal coatings on the underlying Malachite or possibly Pseudomalachite. A few botryoids reveal the underlying Malachite adding character. Scattered tiny green clusters of primary Malachite crystals are a nice accent to this rich and fine rarity. The underside of the piece shows the dark "Tenorite" matrix with thin veinlets of blue-green Chrysocolla.
