Gold specimens attributable to the Oriental Mine are EXTREMELY RARE compared to those from the nearby, much more famous and prolific 16 to 1 Mine. The Oriental Mine is now considered to be part of the 16 to 1 Mine complex. First production was in 1865 and has been intermittent since then (MINDAT). This flattened sculptural two-sided rarity with a bright sparkly patina is composed of a myriad of tiny rounded gold crystals with a bit of embedded quartz matrix. This form of gold is called sponge gold. Mass is 2.94 grams. The current bullion gold price is $1958/ounce or almost $63/gram. Bullion value is therefore alone, about $185. Specimen value is much more. This is an outstanding California gold from the less well-known locale. A bit fragile and thin, but you get a lot of surface area to weight ratio here!
